Solar Cooling

ORChidea models are employed in solar cooling plants. In combination with a solar field of vacuum tubes or with Cassini solar collector they can transform a standard cooling vapour compression cycle in a solar cooling plant. Where an absorption heat pump is employed, ORChidea platform supplies electrical energy to all plant loads (circulating pumps, chiller, dry cooler). For such application, KAYMACOR Engineering Center has developed UGO, a Phase Change Materials Heat Storage.

A pre-existing cooling or heat pump plant based on standard compression cycle technology can be powered by a solar source integrating it with photovoltaic panels. A more attractive solution is to use solar thermal panels coupled to an ORC machine. In this way, in addition to electric loads, the building's thermal loads can be met. It is also possible take advantages from the installation of a thermal storage.
